
Marcela Avila Lopez
Founder of Aluna Freediving school and a Non-profit charity organization called Lunamar for the Planet. Marcela is also an SSI Advanced Open Water Scuba Diving and Yoga/Breath instructor.
Her water journey started at a very young age, growing up as a competitive swimmer and becoming a Scuba diver at the age of 14. She started world-trotting at the age of 19, and a few years later she started teaching SCUBA diving all across Thailand, Bali, Philippines, and the Caribbean. In 2011 she was introduced to the art of freediving and years later Marcela founded Aluna Freediving and has been teaching all through out Indonesia, Philippines, Canada, Mexico as well as training yacht crew all over the US, Bahamas and the Caribbean. Although her career has been mostly dedicated to teaching and directing the #OceanWarriorsProject with Lunamar for the Planet, she has won a gold and two silver medals at the Aida Canada Pool Freediving National Championships and holds two pool Aida National Records.
